Me and 3 of my friends drove to Atlanta, Georgia yesterday. We waited in line for 4 1/2 hours! ( You better believe we were the first ones there and the first ones in line). When Rue walked in, my friend started crying really bad and she made Rue cry (she made her mess up her make up. got pics of this). Because of the crowd, we were told that we could not take pics with Rue, only at a distance. The reason was because she had done a signing only a few hours before and she was tired. Also it was late and she wanted to rest. I had made all of us T-shirts and when she saw the shirts, she called us over a took loads of pics with us. We jumped in line 4 times to talk to her. She was so impressed. She said come on lets take more pics. She couldn't believe we drove from South Carolina and skipped classes to see her. I know she will remember us! I realized that I thought I loved Rue before, I LOVE her now! When it was my turn to talk to her, all I could say was I love you Rue. My friend was just crying. Rue I guess felt sorry for her because she kissed her on the cheek.

Ok. Me. The Klutz. Who would have thought. Rue wanted to sign my shirt so when I bent down to sit between her knee, I stepped on her foot. I was like OH HECK. But she said it was fine. I can't believe I actually touched and hugged Rue Mc-freaking-Clanahan!!!!!

Rue was really fun. She read out of her book and she read quotes from Blanche with the accent! (truely amazing). One highlight of the night-this really old man told Rue that he used to have X-rated thoughts about her while watching Golden Girls. He said "Do you want to hear it?" She said "No Deal". I was rolling on the floor laughing.

I'm just so happy that Rue decide to break her rules and let us get close to her and take pics with her!

Aw, that is fantastic, Jen! Such a dream come true and stepping on her foot probably left quite a lasting impression on her. That's so sweet that she was crying too when your friends began crying. Man, I wish I'd been there to see it. Your pics of the event cannot come quick enough!!

I'm so made up for you, Jen! It would be a dream come true for me to meet one of the Girls, never mind hear quotes from the show in character. However, living on the other side of a very large ocean I doubt I'll ever get that chance. I bet it was a really fabulous time for you. It really seems like you made a lasting impression on her. I can't wait to see the photos. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

Oh my gosh, Jen! That's wonderful!! You finally got to meet with her! I'm so happy for you that you got to take pictures, and everything. It's amaziing, and I'm really happy for you! .. And I, too, am waiting for the pics!!

That's awesome! What Blanche quotes did Rue do? It's such a thrill to meet a fave TV star and find out they're ever bit as nice as you thought (and even more so!). I know b/c I've met Valerie Harper and she's got to be one of the sweetest people ever! Are you planning to post the pics you took? I'd love to see them, and I'm sure others here would, too.

Jen, I'm so incredibly happy for you. You got to meet your favorite Golden Girl--and mine. That's so sweet that you and your friends started crying. Rue obviously saw the wholeheartedness of your love and caring. It doesn't surprise me that she was very sweet--or that she signed your shirt. You will remember this day and it will sustain you through good and tough times.

And--you left your footprint imprint on her, too.

Hey all!

I am just able to log on because as you know, Dell had to fix my computer!

To answer questions, Rue was really sweet! The lines she quoted were from the episode where George had the son outside of the marriage, and she quoted from the Pilot. She also talked about posing nude for $2.00 an hour for an art class. Also, how she slept with the instructor later. She said he taught her things she never knew! (Good ole Blanche/Rue). She also said that Betty would be at her LA signing! In her closing statement, she said that the all enjoyed Golden Girls. The she said "well, at least Betty, Estelle and I truely enjoyed the Golden Girls. Then she laughed and everybody started laughing. I don't know if she was joking or suggesting something.

Rue is such a little Blanche, isn't she? Sleeping with the instructor. I swear, she'll be 92 and in the tub just like she always thought.

That "Estelle, Betty and I" remark was probably just teasing because so many people are convinced Bea was unhappy on the show. Rue probably just isn't afraid to poke fun at the rumours.

Another funny moment I forgot to mention is when Rue read scripts from Golden Girls, she acted out each character. She did her Southern voice, she did Rose's high voice, and when she got to Dorothy, she growled! It was hilarious!

Congrats on getting some great photos. As Sam said, Rue looks better now than she has in some other photos I've seen. Honestly, she hasn't aged that much since GG.

Great pics, Jen! It's so great that you got to meet her, and all that stuff. Her reading of the script must've been so funny! .. I wonder about the "at least Betty and Estelle and I had fun" quote. I hope she was just kidding..

I hope she was kidding too. When she said it, you can feel the crowd asking for more but she just laughed.

Oh, that would have been legendary to see! Her Bea impression is so hysterical that I can only imagine how the others sounded. She briefly did her Blanche voice during a talk show appearance last week and it was strange to see her slip right back into the voice and not sound any different than she did in '93.

One thing I really loved about her was her entrance. We thought that she was going to come in the door across the bookstore so she would not be crowded. She came in the door the crowd was close to and walked through everyone. I thought that was sweet!

Ah congratulations on meeting Rue! You're so lucky! Awesome pictures..I love the shirts too.

Is there any way of knowing how to meet Betty White? (besides her going to Rue's signing in LA)..It's one of my life dreams: meet Betty White. If only one of the Golden Girls would come to New York..

AAAH, I'm so jealous!! Blanche has always been my fave Girl, and I would LOVE to meet Rue in person someday. If I ever did, though, I'd prob. just stand there and stammer like an idiot! LOL Rue sounds like such a sweetheart. Glad you had such a good time!

I don't know if anybody noticed but there was really something funky about Rue's earrings. My friends and I were trying to figure it out. They did not pierce through the earlobe. They were pierced though the back of the ear...the part close to the bone. We thought that was so cool. If you cannot see it, let me know and I will upload a closeup.
