Full Version: Seventh season the best?

I'm sure this topic has been discussed at length somewhere around here, but I can claim ignorance since I'm new to this area of the forum, lol.

I was looking around at Amazon.com and noticed that their editorial review hailed the seventh season of TGG as the show's best. I do love the last season, but "best"? I dunno --- anyone agree/disagree??

I'm thinking my favorite seasons were probably 3 and 4. Now 7 may in fact come in third on my list. All the episodes were pretty good. I notice that there are several two-part episodes from the last year. Maybe that's because TGG moved to NBC's 8:00 timeslot and no real solid show was sandwiched between it and Empty Nest, so TGG was given several hourlong blocks. At that time it was TGG at 8, The Torkelsons at 8:30, Empty Nest at 9, and Nurses at 9:30. The Torkelsons was a cute show, but didn't last too long....and didn't have the Miami linkage that TGG, EN, and Nurses had.

Oh, and Amazon's review also said the following ---- "In the final season, Marc Cherry (Desperate Housewives) was promoted from story editor to producer. (It can't be completely coincidental that the man who helped make 40 the new 30 first helped make 60 the new 40.)"

I'd probably say S3 was the best followed by S2 and S4. S7 would come in after them for me. To be honest, I think it all depends on whether you prefer the earlier or later seasons. When I first got into GG, seasons 5-7 were definitely my favourites but now I'd say it's the other way round after collecting the dvds.

Seasons 2&3 for me. Though 7 is great.

My favourite season was 2.
My least favourite season was 5.

My favorite seasons are 5, 6 and 7. I love all of the episodes, but I don't really like watching the earlier seasons.

Honestly i like all the season but there are about 3 that really stand out to me and that would probably be

Seasons 1, 6, and 7 but i'll watch them all anyway!!

Well after receiving the three remaining seasons and watching them all, I'll now list my favourite seasons in order:

1) Season 3
2) Season 2
3) Season 6
4) Season 4
5) Season 1
6) Season 7
7) Season 5

I would of loved Season 7 more but to me Dorothy isn't the Dorothy of the earlier seasons - she seems loud, arrogant and false (almost showing that Bea was desperate to leave!).

I don't want this to come out the wrong way, but Dorothy seemed a lot more... feminine in the later seasons, especially Season 7. It sounds crazy, but she became more elegant in my opinion and took better care with her appearance and it meant that I couldn't buy into the jabs about her looks as easily.

Season 7, along with Season 6 have grown on me considerably but Season 2 is still my favourite, closely followed by Season 4, and then 6 or 7.

That's pretty much my exact same order.

I agree very much about Dorothy becoming more "feminine".

My favorite season was the third, as it contains my 2 favorites episodes, "The Artist" and "My Brother, My Father". Those 2 never fail to make me laugh! Next would have to be season 4, since it has 2 more favorites, "Valentine's Day" (which, incidentally, I play back every year on Valentine's Day - this was the first year I was able to play back the uncut original episode!) and "The Auction", another artist episode, but with a different spin! I guess season 6 would come in third, follwed by 5 and 7. For some reason, I never really got as into the first 2 seasons in reruns, but they did have their extremely funny moments, as well.

My husband and i watch an episode of TGG every night before we go to bed (helps us unwind.........and a cup of tea is ALWAYS a prerequisite) we seem to gravitate towards seasons 3 and 7. i think by season 3 all the girls were really comfortable playing their characters and started to push their characters limits smile.gif then in season 7, it was just pure magic.

Ah, yes, Season seven bittersweet really. I think all the girls including Bea gave it their all, and the writing improved from season 5 (brilliant season, but the weakest in my opinion). Season 1-4, and 7 are my DEFINITE favorites...but probably season 3 peaks for me, on so many levels.
