Full Version: An idea for a Golden Girls website

I've been toying with this idea for some time... It's not becoming reality, but I thought I'd share my idea with all you GG fans (who else could I share it with?). Basically it's a website about the four girls... but each one of them has their own part of the site. The site could have these four different parts: 'Dorothy's Book Corner' where "Dorothy" could post comments about different books; 'Sophia's Kitchen' where "Sophia" could share her delicious recipes; 'Blanche's Boudoir' where "Blanche" could post some relationship advice; 'Rose's Stories' where "Rose" could post some off-the-wall stories about whatever. And all these different parts would be written according to the character! For example "Blanche" would write in a southern manner, using words Blanche often uses in the show etcetc. You get my point? I think if done really well, a site like that could be really so much fun.
So what do you think? Feel free to add your thoughts or even steal my idea if you have extra time and extra space on the web lmao.gif

I don't want to be the first one to give a negative thought, but here goes.. I find it sooooo annoying when getting on a blog or a website and it's people pretending to be a character or even someone famous... I just hate it.. That's one thing to write fan fiction, but that's a whole other thing to impersonate. I'm sorry, but I don't think that's a good idea...

But! And that's a very big but! Don't let me stop you from doing this, if it's something that you find interesting and that you believe it could work and could amuse. I'm just one person, and I'm pretty sure that other people will find your idea more interesting than I do. The main thing is this: do what you believe in.

As a matter of fact, there are places on the web that will host websites for free. So if you have just a little bit of html languages in you, go for it, honey! Here's a link --> Geocities. And who knows, maybe some people from this very website might want to help you with the design or to collaborate to each girls' corner.

Gab made some fair points. I write fanfiction and despite my stories being very popular, one of the trickiest things to do is not to make what the characters say out of character. If you want, you could ask somebody here to be your beta reader and proof-read everything you write and they can give their opinion whether or not it would be good to put on the site.

You could perhaps base something on past events on the show that we don't get to hear about. Or make a mock copy of the St. Olaf Dispatch Newspaper where you can write your own stories based on the crazy journalists in that town. lol.gif

I think it is definitely an interesting idea, but it could be tricky. Work hard at it and bounce ideas off of us and I think this could turn out nicely. smile.gif

I'm a big fan of the comic strip For Better or For Worse, and there's been a lot of drama in our Yahoo group because of a blog that was posted supposedly by one of the "characters," (actually the writer of the strip, Lynn Johnson). The members of the Yahoo group have been divided on the responses in the blog being "real" or someone pretending to be Lynn. Too much drama fo' yo' mama if you ask me.

Plus, I have a fan site for Mindy Cohn, who I loved in the TV show "The Facts of Life." Admittedly, it's a cheap site, and I haven't done anything to it in a couple years... but there's a fair amount of work put into it. The site very clearly says "This is a fan site" and "no way to contact," but I still get regular emails requesting autographs and info and all that (sound familiar, Sam??).

Like GabZ said, that kind of site isn't my thing. BUT, if you want to do it, then go crazy. A site can take on a life of its own, and evolve and change. Perhaps the end result could be better than the starting idea... but there's only one way to figure it all out. Just do it.

Good luck!

Same here; simply calling myself Sicilian Gecco gives some the impression that they're contacting Estelle.

I get your idea (I once wrote the missing "falling Leif story" myself). Like you said, if done well, it could be entertaining. When you're feeling creative, make some notes. Start writing; you may be surprised what develops.

Yeah I already said in the first post that the site isn't going to become reality so I wasn't really planning on making it. I don't have enough time since I already have one (quite big) fansite for a celebrity. I just wanted to share my idea and to know what you guys thought about it.
