Hey y'all, I've been viewing this site for a while and I enjoy reading the forum very much. This is my first post and the reason I'm here today is to find out something that's been bugging me. In the opening credits there is a quick flash on Dorothy, Rose and Blanche on the sofa. They are all dressed and in the same seating arrangment as they were in the "Break-In" episode from Season 1. The piece of the scene I'm referring to involves Blanche pulling her sleeve over her hand in some kind of demonstration and Dorothy (especially) and Rose look appaled at what Blanche is doing. I have a vague recollection of seeing this scene while watching Lifetime. But, it's not included in the "Break-In" episode on the DVD set. So that begs the question, is this due to another edit on the DVD like the one that's been discussed in "The Beat Beat Beat of the Tom Tom" episode? All of the scenes in the opening credits are from season 1, except where Rue and Estelle had their credit scene changed. I never did know why that happened either. Why only Rue and Estelle? Do any of you have any idea what I'm talking about?
Maybe Mr. Sotkin can help us out.

Hi Mark,

That missing sofa scene from the opening credits is a big mystery amongst fans. The scene appears to have been cut from 'Break-In'. I saw the shows original run on Channel 4 (UK) during the 80's and I keep thinking that scene was included - but somehow for the repeats it was removed. I may be completely wrong, maybe it was cut before the episode aired, but I can't help thinking I have seen it. But, it's definitely not a DVD-only edit smile.gif

Hi, Sam! I'm sure you're right. I distinctly remember (nobody laugh) watching that scene. It's definitely from The Break-In, and I'm sure it had something to do with the big dog in the kitchen prompting a Blanche story about someone losing a hand. I couldn't wait for that DVD so I could finally see the whole thing -- man, it hocked me off that it had been cut there, too. Who'm I kiddin' -- that the DVDs are edited at all hocks me off.

Yeh I always wondered why whenever they would add new clips tot he opening credits (which was not too often over 7 years) it was only Rue & Estelle who got new clips.Infact Rue got more than anyone, she got 3.And her original one can only be seen on the DVD.Why is that?..if they could change theirs they can change everybodies! My guess is that the actresses requested different clips, that is the only excuse i can think of...

I do too remember seeing the original. I remember when I thought oh that's the part. Because i always used to check if I've seen all the episods which are shown in the opening credits.

So is this scene in the syndicated version or not? Is there any way I can see it at all?
GabZ1985
I believe the scene got deleted. It's not in the syndicated version nor in the DVD version.

Occasionally, I run into GG eps on my really old tapes. A few are the original NBC versions, and some were syndicated on Fox with different cuts. If I ever run across this scene, I'll be sure to share.
