To be honest, I cannot remember how I came across Sam's website and this forum.

I think I must have found it through a search engine.

For me, it was one of two things: EITHER I did a search on google, OR I found a link from Katie's site. I'm inclined to think the latter, only cause I was a memeber there for AGES before I became a member here (before the new forum). However, I think I found the site through a search engine way before I joined the forums, and I linked two and two when I saw you on Katie's site...I'm confused! wacko.gif

You won't believe some of the words I come across in my site stats which a visitor has used to find my site. Just a few days ago I noticed "girls ti*s" being one of the words so come on, own up, who found the site by accident? cutewink.gif I often wonder what disappointment someone feels when they search for "sexy girls/ladies" and they're brought to a site about four old biddies lol.gif Anti-climax, perhaps?!

Oh wow, Sam! I know! Whenever I would search "The Golden Girls" on Kazaa, all this really bad, porn-o stuff would come up. Stuff like, "SEE OUR NEWEST GIRL GET A FACE (go into really bad porn-o stuff >here<)" I was appalled at the stuff that came up...

but the problem is that I can't remember how I found it. I remember sometime in April I was looking up the golden girls a lot once I started watching it on Lifetime. I think I found Katie's site first so maybe that is how I found this one. But needless to say...this is the BEST GG site out there!

I think I've been with Sam, Katie, and Rob for about 3-4 years now. ALL the way back when it was Yahoo! Clubs... I've made the shuffle every time, and we've finally settled here.

But I remember finding Sam's site about 3-4 years ago when I did the search for "The Golden Girls" websites. Then, I emailed Sam trying to correct that it was actually 5161 Richmond Street. God, was I a bitch!

Thanks, James! I feel so bad that I haven't done an update in weeks because it's so not like me. Right now I've got another project on that is basically consuming my time so by the time I do have a gap in my schedule I just feel too tired/unmotivated to work on the site. I don't know when I'm going to get those new sections on the site up and running - but paid work rules right now smile.gif I will definitely add a bit of festivity to the site come early December though wink.gif

Don't feel bad, Sam, because I'm in exactly the same boat. I've hardly done anything with my site in the past 5 or 6 months (except for the redesign, but I mean in terms of adding new content). When I was in the shower this evening, I was thinking about it. I'm actually thinking of putting a little notice on my homepage that new content (i.e. photo galleries, a DVD page and some other things) will be added in December/January--over my winter break. That way, people would at least know that I haven't abandoned the site (and being that I updated at least once a week for 2 1/2 years, people probably are starting to think that I've abandoned it, LOL!).

I think this is just an especially hectic and busy time of year for everyone. Like you, Sam, when I do finally get some time where I could work on it, I just feel unmotivated and want to do something lazy instead.

Cheers, Katie! The last time I added new content (wallpapers) was about a month ago. I was on a roll and I thought I'd achieve a whole lot more that weekend but it all took a back seat. I took some screenshots from TV Tales a few weeks back and I'd planned on setting up a gallery for that but I'm still in the planning stages, lol!

LOL! Thankfully I don't have a 'last updated' date on the site so for all people know I could be updating it everyday (uh-huh, likely story) but I myself feel like I'm abandoning the site. But, once we get into December then I know I'll HAVE to make some kind of update to give it a festive feel, which in turn will hopefully give me the incentive to get on with adding new content.

Yeah, sure does seem to be a very busy time for a lot of people right now. By the time we get around to weekends which will be the best time to do my own site stuff, I just lounge around and keep putting it off for another day rolleyes.gif

James
Sam and Katie, I would not feel too bad about not updating @ccess The Golden Girls and The Rue Crew in a while.

I enjoy visiting both of your websites due to the amount of content you already have on them, but I will look forward to seeing your updates of the sites in the near future.

Like Katie said, November and December are busy months for people with Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up.

Regards, James.
Sam
Well, tonight I decided to do some work on the site and make it festive.

I wanted to use a "scene" from the GG episode 'Twas The Nightmare Before Christmas' as the main image on the homepage. I took a screenshot at the highest resolution but when you shrink it down it's still as pixelated as hell. But, determined to use a festive episode shot, I messed around in Macromedia Fireworks and made it look like something of a mosaic...as if it was meant to look arty farty, lol!

Naturally that image had no chance of being as clear as the regular ones I use, as those were excellent high quality images I got from a promo site, but this'll do for Christmas as it's very warm looking smile.gif I did have some snow falling on the site, courtesy of some javascript, but it was making things load quite slowly so I've taken that off now.

James
Sam, you have done a fantastic job making @ccess The Golden Girls festive!

The mosaic screenshot from Twas The Nightmare Before Christmas is very effective, especially with the Christmas greeting.

I also like the screenshot sections for Twas The Nightmare Before Christmas and Have Yourself A Very Little Christmas - both of The Golden Girls Christmas episodes.

Regards, James.
Sam
Thanks Carly and James! I'm glad the "mosaic" image doesn't look too bad/out of place tongue.gif I'm going to try and add more shots to the Christmas episode galleries soon.

James, have you seen either of the Christmas episodes yet, on LivingTV? They are both good, with 'Have Yourself A Very Little Christmas' being the more serious one but still funny. I just love 'Twas The Nightmare Before Christmas', especially the 'Blanche's Boudoir Calendar' scene lol.gif

Dorothy: Whooooooaaaaaaahhhhhh!
Blanche: September?
Dorothy: Yep
Sophia: I'm surprised you were able to walk in October!

Sam, I have seen both Christmas episodes of The Golden Girls on LivingTV and totally agree with everything you have said about them, especially about how good the 'Blanche's Boudoir Calendar' scene is! laughing1.gif

I have always preferred 'Twas The Nightmare Before Christmas' over 'Have Yourself A Very Little Christmas'. Although 'Have Yourself A Very Little Christmas' is funny, it follows the seriousness of Season 4 and Season 5 of The Golden Girls.

Regards, James.

Sam, I love the mosaic picture on your homepage! It doesn't look like a low-res picture at all--it just looks like you intended to be that way (artsy fartsy, lol). It's really nice! smile.gif

My favorite part of "The Nightmare Before Christmas" HAS to be when Blanche comes running through the living room, yelling "Catch me, catch me, catch me!" while the mall Santa is chasing her. ROTFLMAO!

I also love it when the girls are sitting in the Diner and Blanche is telling stories of her Christmas escapades, and Dorothy yells, "I COULD GET HERPES FROM LISTENING TO THIS STORY!" Haha!!

It does look really good, Sam. I have a program on my computer called MGI Photosuite 8.06 (which strangely is older than MGI Photosuite 3 and 4 - I have v4 but I don't like it) that lets you put about 25 different special effects onto a picture, including mosaic and one that looks really effective with pixelated pictures, called Gaussian Blur. smile.gif I don't know if your image software has anything like that, but I thought I'd just give it a mention!
dizzymuppet
The first half of 'Have Yourself a Very Little Christmas' is very funny, particularly when they draw names out of the bowl to see who they're buying a present for, nobody wants Roses present so Sophia and Dorothy do a high-five when they find out they're buying for each other lmao.gif !

I like the front page Sam, the mosaic effect looks really good. smile.gif Good job!

Yeah, the Gaussian Blur is a good effect, Rob, and I think I used a bit of that to soften the image a little. I think I used all of my graphics packages (Macromedia Fireworks, Paint Shop Pro, Adobe PhotoShop and a quirky one called Professor Franklin's Photo Effects which came free with my older printer yet is remarkably impressive for it being a freebie) to try and create the right effect lmao.gif

Wow, the site looks really Christmassy, Sam! And the mosaic gives that Christmassy feel, too; I don't know if it's that a mosaic looks a leetle like snowflakes making a pic, or that when you're loaded on egg-nog, everything looks like a mosaic, but I really get a Christmassy feeling when I see that pic! And the "artsy fartsy" doesn't look "made" at all! Really nice!

Thanks a lot, Ché waving.gif The 'scene' of the girls on the sofa with their pressies was too 'Christmassy' NOT to use, so I knew I had to get around the picture being all horribly pixelated and the mosaic effect fitted right on in there biggrin2.gif

I found a very interesting spanish site this morning (I speak spanish too). It mentioned Sam's website clickie

Let me translate the link to Sam's website for you : This webpage is the first one in the UK dedicated to "las chicas de oro" (GG in Spanish). It's also the worlwide most complete GG ressource. This page not only includes it's own newsletter : "the Golden Gazette" but also goodies like screenshots and wallpapers.

Did you first access Sam's forums thanks to this website? That's the question I'd like to ask our members from Spain. If the answer is no can you please tell us which one you visited? Thanks soooo much!

The spanish website is a good one you may be interesting in checking it out if you see anything you want me to translate just ask.
